Lighting Issue

Hello all I apologize if this has been posted before.

2007 Cobalt, 2 dr, Manual

I have two issue's.

First: My passenger side headlight has just randomly started dimming on it's on, it's on but just barely lit. If I turn on my passenger side turn signal it flash's fast like I have a bulb out but there is nothing wrong with the lights themselves. I have noticed two things, If I turn the wheel the light goes back to full power, and also have notice if I hit a bump it goes back to full power. I am unsure if those two things are related, all of this was noticed on my way to work tonight. So I can't tell yet if one or both are connected. Any advice on this would be helpful. I have been able to determine so far from deduction that it is either a power flow issue, or a bad connector/switch in either the steering column or headlight connector.

Second: This has been an issue since I bought the car but, only now has it aggravated me, I have two buttons on my steering wheel that scroll threw the driver info center on the dash. When I turn the steering wheel the button lights and ability to scroll/select driver info stop working. Until I turn the wheel a little more and it comes rite back. I bought this car used from a dealership and I only know what the CarFax report says. The report says the ignition switch was replaced by a Chevy dealership already so I would assume somewhere during this replacement something was messed up, as I have read on here before that other people have had issue's in the past with dealerships doing shotty work.

Any help on either of these two issues would be appreciated preferably both. Please be detailed with your info, I will be fixing this myself so the more detailed you can be on the causes and the fix would greatly help me.

The passenger side headlamp assembly has it's own ground wire, you either have a loose or corroded ground connection on passenger side. The ground point is under the headlamp assembly.

Thank you for the response and the diagram. I will attempt to figure out if this is the cause today.

Ignition has nothing to do with the steering wheel clock spring. It appears like you have a dead spot on your clock spring and the only way to remedy this is to replace the clock spring, You can probably get one from a junkyard but I would get a new one.

What do you mean by clock spring? I just assumed it was a short some where in the wiring to the buttons.

If you're from the USA you can probably get one of these from ACDelco for like $50.

Make sure to disconnect battery when changing the clockspring, it will come with a piece of tape holding it in center position, do not remove until it is installed with steering wheel straight ahead.

I am and you are correct. Again thanks for the info, the head light issue is a bigger deal for me at the moment. The clock spring will have to wait a little while.

If you have fog lights, it is also the ground for the right fog light.

wow thanks for the picture, I could have located it just fine with the diagram, but thanks. Good thing for me I have a local junk yard that just so happens to have 8 bran new (wrecked) cobalts on there lot. everything from 2005-2008. Anyone by chance need parts? this place you remove what you need and pay for it. I would be happy to pull anything off anyone needs with in reason and ship anywhere for a reasonable deal.

Sorry, that was the wrong ground here's the right one G102. Right behind the left headlight.

The left headlight would be under the windsheild washer reservoir.
