How Can I Make the Low Beam Come on Instead of DRL?

Hello everyone, I just bought an LED conversion kit for my stock headlights, but they donít come with a relay harness like my HIDs. Since I live in Canada, I need the lights to come on during the day, but not the DRL as they are 6V (will make my LED flicker). Is there a way I can make the low beams always come one when the car is not on ę*Park*Ľ instead of DRL? Thank you.

Where did you get your info? DRLs are not 6 volts.

On a few posts here and *************...?! Theyíre not 6V?! That would be awesome as I would not need any modification! Are you sure about that? Iíve read several times that they are 6V and thatís why you would need a relay if you plug in HIDs.

07 and later use an in line resistor that drops the voltage on the low beam filaments about 2 to 2.5 volts. So between 10-11 volts. If you have an 05-06 totally different story.

Where is that resistor? Can we bypass it? Even if it is only a 2V drop, I think it could mess up with my LEDs (instructions say I need a 12V power source) and I donít want to burn them ($$$). I ordered a multimeter (needed one not only for this) and I will check this out just to be sure.

Yes, they use a length of purple wire that is curled up in the harness under the hood along the radiator support. You can cut this loop just by the driver's side headlight and tie it together there or you could do it right under the fuse box in the connector. As you can tell my loop was burnt so I cut it out.

And then the DRLs voltage will be 12V like ę*night*Ľ low beams?

Yes sir, the closer you jump to the underneath of the fuse box the higher the voltage.

But you should be good with second picture.

Seems I donít have this purple loop, cause I measured the voltage on the DRLs and on the low beams, and both are at 14.8V! I plugged the LEDs in and no flicker at all. I have a 2010 so maybe thatís why I donít have the purple loop... Was it on your 2007 or 2010 Coby7?

Both had the loop, I replaced both with resistors so it wouldn't catch on fire. You can't see it it's inside the loom of the harness.
