We had our 2007 chevy cobalt towed to dealer to have ignition recall performed. We had lost the transponder key and only had the dummy key to unlock doors. The mechanic tried to use dummy key to program new key. Had to replace TDM, said it didn't match the vin #. Reminded them that we had lost the transponder key and only had the dummy key. They said that it must have blown out the TDM, and also the new TDM because they didn't know it was a dummy key. Is that possible?
