Correct FOB for 2006 Pontiac Pursuit

I just purchased two 22733523 (KOBGT04A) FOB's off ebay. I assumed it would be the same as an 06 Cobalt but maybe not? I tried programming them with my Tech2 but it doesn't appear to detect either of them when I press both the lock & unlock buttons at the same time. I tried one, then the other, then both. Just counts down from 60 and then gives the error message that it didn't detect anything (I forget the exact message).

Only 4 remotes can be programmed a any given moment. Did you cancel existing programmed FOBs or just tried next available slot? If you did then you have to back out a few steps then return ahead to program next available slots.

Which RPO code do you have, because the 06 had 2 different RCDLR depending if you had AU3 or AP3. AU3 needed the 22733523 but AP3 needed a 22733524 which had a different chip set.07-10 only had one no matter both the 15252034 and the 22733524 used the same chip set.

22733523 uses chip set 0190001 and only works with AU3 in 05-06

15252034 and 22733524 use chipset 0218-002 and work with both AU3 and AP8 from 07-10. Also works with 06 AP3. 05 to my knowledge never had the AP3 option.

The 22733523 and the 15252034 look exactly alike if you don't read the back. A lot of ebay and Chinese sellers sell replacement FOBs and say it replaces both because they think they are both (KOBGT04A) that their remote will replace the 22733523 but it doesn't. You need a real 523 with chip set 0190001. You will notice the 0190001 chip set has no diodes below the chip. That's because it wasn't compatible with remote start.

Yeah I tried the one that cancels & adds. My tag doesn't have either AU3 or AP3. It does have 1SB which I thought was a package RPO that maybe included the keyless entry? My car is the loaded model with sunroof, has pretty much everything but leather & 5 bolt wheels.

Then you must just have AU0 which is electric doors only, no remote keyless entry.

With your TechII check for existing modules, make sure key is ''ON'', this will list all CPU modules, the RCDLR module could have been add at the dealer and it seems like it must be there otherwise you wouldn't have the ''Program key FOB'' drop down menu. If they added remote start to the vehicle the 22733523 will not work with that module. You could also check the hood latch for wires going to a switch.

My trunk option sheet is below. Don't see AU0 Either.

I'm wondering if the module is not installed at all. In the Tech2 I went here:

Then Chose "Module ID Information"

But I don't see a module showing up (besides bcm which shows up everywhere). When I went to "Theft Deterrant" for example, it showed the theft deterrent module.

Maybe i'll just have to rip the dash cover off to be sure. I have a spare RCLDR module I took out of an 06 Cobalt SS (21994227)

Edit: I did some more research and it appears that 22733523 & 22733524 share the same FCC ID (KOBGT04A), although I didn't see 22733523 explicitly mentioned in the FCC documentation which was odd. However KOBGT04A clearly has models that don't include the remote start feature (15252034 for example) If what you're saying is true (seems like you've tested it) this could be an example of GM releasing a product (22733523) that is not FCC approved.

That's odd, it might be a special order fleet vehicle.

The 22733523 is FCC approved but it has a different chip set like I showed you. If you can get your hands on a 15252034 or 22733524 or a real 22733523 to try and program your car to it then you'd know.

I think the car started life as a rental so yes probably fleet. I'll be back with an update once I have 100% verification that my RCLDR Module is installed and what part # it is.

1SB Special option package option B, maybe this includes remote keyless.

GM parts Giant says you have keyless entry.

Do the new FOBs you received say 22733523 on the back or are they aftermarket FOBs?

Just noticed this, you don't mention holding both buttons just that you pressed both at the same time. You have to press and hold until the TechII says Yes for that slot. Maybe this is what you did but not clear they way you write it. A detail but you never know.

You're right. I lifted up the dash and 21994227 is installed. I swapped it out with another 21994227 and no change. Guess I need to get a GM OEM fob.

Found one at the junkyard this morning, an OEM 22733523. I cleaned it and fixed it up, tested it. I will be putting it up for sale on Kijiji.
