P0101, P0171 and Car Jerks on Upshift?

My 2005 Chevy Cobalt has OBD2 codes of P0101 and P0171, and it jerks when the automatic transmission upshifts. From what i'm able to research so far this can be fixed by simply cleaning or replacing the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Can anyone tell me if this is correct, or if I need to be focusing on something more? I appreciate any help you can give.

It's a good place to start. Clean it first and check the wiring for frayed or cuts. If that doesn't work, then replace the MAF sensor. Couldn't hurt to check the filter if you haven't done already.
