Intermittent Gear Symbol on Dash

I have an intermittent gear symbol with a plus sign in it showing on my dash. Does anyone know what this means. I don't have an owners manual for my 2010. It's a 5 speed manual

Could I need trans fluid? And what kind?
The clutch pedal does seem to engage higher up in the travel than it should.

Google searched on it and ************* says it's an indicator for the optimum shift point for your current driving style.
