G5 GT/Colbolt Max Tire Size w/18" Wheels

I am looking to buy a new set of rims for my 2009 G5 GT, they are 18x8 with a 50mm offset. The trierack.com recommends 215-40-18, can I go to 235-40-18 without ant rubbing? Or how about 35's how big can I go?
Thanks!

225/35 is your best bet. And that offset of 50...will that even work/look right? Offset should be closer to 40-45 I would say.

I'm not too sure with that offset, but you can usually get 235's under a cobalt easily. I have even seen 255's with the right offset. I have 225/40/18 on 7 1/2" rims and i love them so 235 on an 8" rim would be perfect.
