Hollow Clunking Noise When Wheel is Turned??

hi im greg i have a 2006 LS cobalt recently i have been noticing when i turn my wheel either way i can hear a low hollow clunking noise?? mostly when i turning at low speeds like parking and pulling out?? anyone have this issue?? im thinking its the steering rack??

most likely lower control arm bushings, intermediate steering shaft, or steering column. all are common with cobalts. especially if lowered.

yeah steering columns are epic fail on cobalts, I'm on my 4th :-\... another thing is strut top bearings, definitely sounds like one of those too, doubt it's anything else.

intermediate shaft most likely, that is a famous trait on the GM vehicles for clunking.

I have it and I know its not my bushings! so its probably a strut! Im just gonna ignore it for now until I lower my car here soon.

ironic, i just got my car back from the shop for that problem lol its either your steering column OR a popped out strut...trust me i know lol

shit i wish i knew, i got mine fixed under warranty but if i had to guess, if its a popped out strut, maybe like 100 but if they replace the whole steering column like they did to mine, i would say like about 300,,,idk just guessing
