New Rims and Tire Pressures...

So, my new rims came through UPS today, but I got off work too late to put them on... which may be a good thing: when do you guys typically put on your rims (around now, or wait a while longer - btw, I live in WV). Also, does anybody have the tire size of 215/45-17? If so, what is your tire pressure set at for them (in PSI). Thanks for any help, guys.

The tire should list the pressure on them, and I just got new rims as well. I'm gonna wait till the temps are in the consistent 50's. Well that is if I can hold off that long, I'm in northeast Ohio, where it was 60 last week. Now it's 20 lol

In Virginia... am waiting until the last week in March or April 1st is wheel changeover date.
Tire pressure on tire sidewall is only a MAXIMUM tire pressure by tire manufacturer, NOT recommended pressure. Recommended pressure is set by vehicle manufacturer in driver door jamb decal. As you are upgrading tires to 17's etc. Stick with 33-35 psi, (with ALL 4 the same pressure.) Good pressure for good ride/handling/mileage/comfort/tire life.

^^Agree with him. If I just bought new rims & tires, I'd wait until march and have the tire pressure at 33-35 psi.

Alright, cool, guess I'll go with the ol 33-35 PSI zone. Sounds safe enough. Weirdly, Discount Tire sent me the rims/tires with 46.5 PSI!!! Isn't that nuts? Anyway, it's definitely going to be hard waiting until March, but it probably is a good idea if I want to keep them looking nice... just have never had any before, so very tempting, haha.

Discount Tire is notorious for being overzealous with tightening/pressurizing. They patched my right front tire not long ago...tried to rotate my tires the other day only to find that they torqued my lug nuts on that tire to over 250 ft lbs! Long story short; I went back and left with a free tire rotation from them.

When I got my rims & tires from WheelsNext, they were the same way. Maybe it helps with shipping or something. I just released some of the pressure in them after I put them on.

Because when your trying to seat the bead you have to jam a bunch of air in the tire, and sometimes the beads dont seat untill there is 20-30ibs of air in the tire. If I overfill a tire when I change it I let it out but there were occasions when Im busy and forget to let the air out and send the customer off with 40ibs of air in the tire. The tire machines fill up a tire very fast too, since you fill it with no valve stem you can easily get 45ibs of air in there in 15-20 sec starting with a tire with no air.
