Upgrade from Base Wheel Set to SS Wheelset Question

Hi, I just bought an '08 LS coupe. I hate the stock wheels with plastic hubs and found someone in my city selling a set of the chrome SS wheels. I'm wondering-

1. Is upgrading my wheelset as easy as getting a set of tires and having them installed at my local Chevy dealer/tire and oil store- or are there any other expenses? I feel like there is some rust inside the wheels and I'm not sure if I need breaks changed/cleaned up or what.

2. What would you think a fair price is for these wheels? This person is asking 400 for a set of used ones with no scratches/accidents.

Thanks!

If you have an LS, you have a 4-bolt pattern. The LT and SS (which come with mags) are 5-bolt pattern. the rims will NOT fit without fairly HEAVY modification. Not worth the time or effort. Better to just get a nice set of aftermarket mags and tires for the summer.

Yup to change from a 4 bolt to 5 bolt pattern you will need to change all your front end components and you will need to find a donor car for a full rear assembly to swap to your car. Not worth the time or money you would have been better off buying a 5 lug car to start with.

Yea you can get adapters but they are going to add about 1 1/4 inch width.

Yep. Incompatable rims. You can easily find 4x100 rims that look great on the Cobalt.

As others said look for aftermarket set.

You'll get the exact rims you want, brand new and for 500$. I got mine for 139$ each, 18'' and the exact model I wanted. Car mod shop can make you great deal, for little extra money.
