Service Tire Pressure Monitor

Any Ideas? I have a 2008 Cobalt with 15 inch steel wheels. 89K on the car. Service tpms came on the speedo and showed no reading for the left front wheel and the yellow tire flat light came on. It would stay on after hitting a bump, but after being parked overnight it would go away until I drove about 20 miles. This went on for about 2 weeks it would be off and on. I had the left front sensor and valve stem replaced this morning with a Dorman unit #974-009. 5 minutes after I left the tire shop the light and warning were back on. I have never had the battery go dead or any other electrical issues. What gives?

There's little sensors in the wheels attatched to the actual valve stem. Maybe one went bad. I bieve they usually cost like $60

Did you check to make sure left tire sensor was actually in left front tire before you changed it? If you rotate tires and don't do a TPMS relearn you could low front left when it is actually left rear.
You may have replaced a perfectly good sensor.

Thanks Coby. I guess it is possible that the last time they were rotated at Sam's Club tire dept. that they didn't actually relearn them as they said. I guess I will have to relearn them manually to verify that LF is actually LF. It will only be the fronts as the tires were purchased at different times so the fronts are the fronts and the rears are the rears and only get rotated side to side. Thanks again

Hi Coby7, I checked the sensors today and each one is assigned to the proper wheel. Any other ideas? Thanks

Only other thing I can think of is that the new sensor is bad too.

I guess that is always a possibility. I am going to do a manual relearn this weekend and see if that possibly fixes it. If not i'm going to have to swap another one in. Thanks for your help

sensor fixed

I did a manual relearn today on all 4 wheels and that seems to have solved the problem. Thanks for the responses
