2008-10 SS Alloy Rims on a '06 SS?

Hello all,

First-time poster, some-time lurker, glad to be here!

For the longest time I had my sights set on a 2008-10 SS Cobalt, but unfortunately due to financial constraints + finding a sweet deal, I now have a 2006 SS and am very pleased.

I do like the alloys that came with the '06, but I'm in love with the ones in the later generation, can't get over the double-spoke look.

Wanted to ask if it would be possible to put the 18" SS alloys from the later gens on my 2006? Or is the bolt pattern different / is it not feasible?

Yes you can. They have the same bolt pattern. You can put the 08-10 ss on the 05-07, but not the other way. The 05-07 ss rims dont clear the Brembo calipers on the 08-10.

Not entirely true, with only a 5mm spacer the SS/SC, SS/NA and IRL wheels all fit over the Brembos.

I never recommend spacers, it actually weakens the lug strength, thus why I said they wouldn't fit.

True, but I need to clear the brembos so I run spacers on the front with the IRL wheels (they clear stock but 1-2mm isn't enough clearance in my opinion).

5mm doesn't make enough of a difference to hinder lug strength.

That's just like all the people that freak out when you run 5x114.3 wheels on a 5x115 car.

They still work and don't hinder anything.

And then you get the noobs saying they snapped lug studs, and find out they didn't set the wheel on flush before torquing lugs.

Yeah that clearance is pretty tight. Even with the 5 mm spacers I can barely get my key between the brembo calipers and the lsj wheel.
