Upgrade to FE5... Other Parts Needed?

Hi every one,

I have an 06 Cobalt SS 2.4. I will buy the FE5-S Shocks and struts package from CED. I heard that it was a good idea to upgrade the end links.

1) Is that true?
2) If yes, what year do I need? There is a 2005-2007 part and 2008-2010 one. Do I need the 2008-2010 because I install the suspension from those years?

3) Do I need two end links? (1 left and 1 right)

It is the first time I upgrade the suspension on a vehicle, and I don't really understand how it works. Thanks a lot

To answer your questions:

1) Yes.
2) '05-'07 is good, '08-'10 is better. Yes.
3) Yes. Moogs are recommended.

You might also want to consider upgrading springs and/or sway bars. There are great write-ups on the subject that I highly suggest you read up on.

You don't have the FE5 front swaybar so you want the longer endlinks 11.xx vs 9.xx it doesn't matter which years, it'll be the 2.2 ones from 05-10 none of the FE5 endlinks will work. What you want from 08-10 is the FE5 shocks/struts and springs, they were redisigned and improved from the SS/SC to the much better SS/TC stock setup.

2009 Cobalt LS XFE (F23) Victory Red
YYZ V.3 Springs, Koni shocks/struts, Powell XXX rear swaybar, Brembo brake swap, 5 lug conversion, Ion Redline wheels, SS/SC interior swap including power conversion, K&N intake, Trifecta tune, Ark Performance N-II catback, Ark shorty antenna, SS body kit, Powell F23 rotated mount, LNF rear mount, Powell CABs
Soon to come- EFR 6758 turbo kit and make Retro Headlights.

They will work, they will just move the sway bar up, giving it a more stirdy feel

Thanks a lot for all your answers So, just to make sure that I have understood everything.

With the FE5-S package, it's recommended to buy 2 of these parts
MOOG-K750012 MOOG Front Sway Bar Endlink Kit - Naturally Aspirated - 9.86 Inch Center to Center

Also, I forgot to say that I will add Eibach Sportline springs to this setup.

Is that a good setup? Thanks

Eibach sucks. Get ssc or h&r

Also, there are cheaper places for those endlinks

Do you want low or handling foremost?

YYZ is the best for handling, SSC is a nice mix of low and handling, H&R is a great set of springs for just low, probably an improvement vs FE1 but when you lose that much suspension travel it's not going to handle as good as a car with springs designed for handling foremost like YYZ's are.

Here's how my car sits on YYZ V.3 springs

Going to be picking up a pair of Moog endlinks myself. I have FE5 shocks (08-10) and the stock L61 swaybar, although I will eventually upgrade to the SS/TC bar. Am I looking for the 9'' or the 11''?
