Changing Guide Pin Boots

I made the mistake of using crc "synthetic grease" on the guide pins and decided to rub some on the boots (not realizing the reaction between two petroleum-based products), so I really want to replace these before they rot. When I regreased the hardware they didnt seem to have any give from the bracket. Any ideas?

Yes, they just pull over a lip, but grease should not hurt the rubber boot.

On the CRC product, I was watching a video from EricTheCarGuy on youtube about diagnosing a bad caliper, and he made a point to show what the "synthetic grease" does to the rubber bushings at the tips if the guide pins (they swelled like 3mm!) and rubber boots. He uses that sil-glyde stuff, and made a compelling argument to do the same.

Just waiting for the Raybestos PG Brake hardware kit to come in, then I can start my brake overhaul! Im thinking of doing a mixed write up for painting the rotors/caliper brackets and replacing the caliper hardware, since there is not a thorough one here on YC.
