Falken Pro G4 A/S

If you're in the market for a value-packed performance all-season tire, the Falken Pro G4 A/S may be worth a look.

Click here for : Falken Pro G4 A/S Sizes, Specs, Pricing and Details

Falken invited Discount Tire employees from all over the country to join them in Las Vegas, NV for a day of testing to showcase the improvements their new Pro G4 A/S tire has over its predecessor, the Ziex ZE-612 Plus. We put each model through its paces and at the end of the day we were pleased with the results. Pro G4 A/S delivered solid performance in dry handling/braking, ride comfort, steering response and road noise but where it shined most was in wet handling/braking.

In addition to wide circumferential grooves, multi-width shoulder grooves and high density siping (all of which increase wet performance and enhance hydroplaning resistance), Falken has incorporated a new rubber compound into the Pro G4 A/S, known as Dynamic Range Technology (D.R.T.). D.R.T. is Falken's exclusive silica tread compound that greatly enhances the operating temperature range of the Pro G4 A/S. This specialized compound not only greatly improves wet grip, but also allows the rubber compound to remain pliable at low temperatures. Although we were unable to test this tire in inclement weather conditions, the new Pro G4 A/S has the components in place to be a competitor in the all-season/winter performance category.

Those look decent. My last all season set (Toyo Extensa A/S) were atrocious in any condition. Car handled like a giraffe on roller skates. I switched to BFG g-force sport comp 2's and never looked back.

If you use your car for any more than simple transportation or groceries, skip A/S rubber and invest in a decent set of summer tires.

Always liked falken. They were always a good tire to burn off and not care because they were so cheap. They also got descent traction.

I had Falken ZIEX-512s on my IROC and they worked pretty well, though they weren't the best in the snow - but honestly, that was probably more the choice of vehicle than anything (I never got stuck once, so I guess they weren't that bad).

The Cav has Falken ZIEX-612s on one half of the car and they work fine, but I don't (can't) drive that vehicle hard at all.

That said - the all seasons I ran on my steelies were the Bridgestone Potenza RE-960AS Pole Positions, which were classified as an "Ultra High Performance All-Season". They were okay in the snow (never got stuck or had any issues), and had great grip - for an all-season. But they run quiet and don't ride hard. They were the best all-season you could buy for the 195/60R15 tire size.

If you plan on gripping hard at all, though, go with a summer tire. All-seasons are essentially a giant compromise.
