If they apply road salt in the winter in your area don't get drilled rotors.

You probably wouldn't generate enough constant heat to make use of them. Good for a track car though.

Just get cheap coated rotors, they will last the life of the pads and just replace everything again in 3 years.

Hawk HPS pads will outlive the rotors. I'm on my second pair of rotors (Raybestos Advanced Techs), and turned the first pair, and I still have plenty of life left on the Hawk Pads.

What does it do to drilled rotors if they put salt on the road. (I live in upstate NY, so they do lol)

Salt will get in the drilled holes and corrode the rotor from the inside out.

Water can also get in there, freeze and crack the rotor. Just get blank rotors. More braking surface, longer pad life, quieter.

Actually what will happen is like MP81 said but the rust from the holes will lift the metal around the lip of each hole causing your brake pads to in fact hit little bumps on the rotor surface. This generates a very loud noise that resonates inside the cabin and is very very annoying.
