Proportioning Valve

The brake proportioning valve on my son's 2007 LS (front disk, rear drum) seems to be having issues (at least that's what he believes). The problem is that the 2005-2008 valve (P/N 10359640) has been discontinued. The 2009-2010 valve (P/N 25852935) is available so he got one. From the looks, it appears to be the EXACT same thing!

But before he installs it, and possibly screws something up, does anyone know what the difference is (if any) between the 2005-2008 (10359640) valve and the 2009-2010 (25852935) valve??

Thanks
Ed

Gm parts giant says: Sorry, this part does not fit the vehicle you selected:Add New Vehicle 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt 4 Cyl 2.2L MFI, DOHC; 4-Speed Automatic Transmission, 4T45-E

Dealer should know what superseds 10359640

Although discontinued by GM it is still a good ACDelco number. Auto Part Number 10359640 From ACDelco

No, the dealer has no clue what the difference is, and the 2005-2008 valve is no longer available. I had him check the entire country and NO ONE has any!

You will have to go to an ACDelco autopart store. I just checked and Buzzells says it's a good number and they had one on the shelf. But it might be different in the USA

Coby, what's a Buzzells? Is that an auto parts store? I don't think we have those here in the US. I've tried NAPA and they don't have it (and can't get it) either.

By the way, I send an email to your first link (buyautopartsonline.ca) and they came back saying they don't have it either, and can no longer get it. I've spent the last three days doing Google searches for this part, calling every place that said they had it, and not one actually did. The local GM dealer did a national search on 10359640 and none showed up, but he didn't do Canada or Mexico. I guess their system only works in the US. But he basically said that if he can't find it in the US, it just doesn't exist.

That's way I'm trying to find out what the differences are (if any) between the 05-08 valve and the 09-10 valve. We got the 09-10 valve yesterday and compared it to the 05-08 valve, and they're exactly the same externally. Internally, we have no idea, but unless it's a ratio change from the original 60/40 to something else, I can't see why a new part number would have been assigned. Heck, even the bracket is the same!

GM only assigns new part numbers if there's a change made to the part, so there has to be something internally that's different. That's what I'm trying to find out, but even the service manager at the local dealer doesn't know. And there seem to be no notations in any of his books on what the differences are either.

Buzzells is our ACDelco part store and they sell other brands also.

GMpartsdirect.com still has it listed.

The superseded # appears to be 22710838, sorry this number is only good in Canada.

Yep, I tried them too!

However, a Google search yields no results for the 22710838. Where did you find that info at?

Do you have a link for Buzzells? If they really do have it, I need to find out if they ship to the US.

They don't even have an email, they still run with fax machines lol. I can call them tomorrow if you want or you can call. I guess they go by AutoChoice now but they still have the Buzzell sign up.

Well, another dead end. I just spoke to someone there and he said he doesn't have one and it's been discontinued with no superseded part number.

Looks like I'm going to have to install the 25852935 valve for the 09-10 Cobalt and see what happens. I'll drive slow to test it!!
