Fe3 control arm vs Fe5

My 2005 Cobalts front control arms are so bad sounds like the front end is dragging down the road.

I see the FE3 looks similar to the FE5 if I want to change my control arms do I go with FE3 or fe5?

Thanks

I there is a thread over at another great Cobalt site called SSCOBALTS dot NET with a topic of suspension 101.
There they list all of the GM part numbers for all of the cobalt suspensions parts.

Checking there and here with the folks that have done it many times, I chose MEVOTECH CMS50174 & MEVOTECH CMS50173.
These are forged Aluminum control arms and coupled quite well with the FE5 struts, stabilizer end links, and FE5 sway bar for my 08 LS

Now as I recall, and i could be wrong, but I thought 05 FE3 control arms were stamped steel. Again, I could be wrong.

Checking again

The FE3 and FE5 control arms are the same (The SS/NA was introduced in 2006).

What is not the same are the '05-'07 FE3/FE5 and '08+ FE5 arms - the SS/TC's knuckle is different, as is the ball joint - so you can use any arms but the SS/TC arms.

FE3 and '05-'07 FE5 arms are the same part. It's only the '08+ FE5 arms you would not be able to use.
