09 Cobalt, Auto, Ecotec. Have a grinding noise coming from my drive line. When I jack up the left side and put it in drive and accelerate there is no noise. When I go to the right side the noise is present. So I changed the half shaft and wheel hub bearing. While it was apart I took the old CV apart and inserted the cup that goes into the trans (not sure the name) and ran it as mentioned above and NO NOISE!! I figured I was good to go and reassembled the whole thing and the noise is present again. Funny thing is that it does not make the noise when I select 1 on the gear shift lever. As soon as I shift to 2 or D the noise comes back in. I'm thinking it is the final drive bearing on the passenger side. But why wouldn't it grind in all gears? Is there a trans guru on here has experience or knowledge that could explain this issue?
