Needing Help! Newbie Here!

First of all, the car is a 09 Cobalt LS with an Automatic Transmission. I thought my brakes pads were wearing so I went to replace them and rotors while I was at it. Got everything torn down and noticed the pads was worn any! What was causing all my noise? Got to looking and the CV axles and the passenger side had oil blew all around the side of transmission and on the axle itself. So I thought then again it was just the CV axle shot. Went and got a new one and a Haynes book while I was at. Got to reading about and then it said it was like the output seal in the transmission side that was bad. My question is, just how hard is that to do myself? What is a good step by step process of doing so? The manual didn't have a good description as to doing so. And another thing I noticed was two lines going into the bottom corner of the radiator it seemed on the drivers side had oil all over them, can't really pinpoint from where though. Just two problems I need fixed soon as to I'm going on an extended road trip two weekends from now! Thanks for any responses!

Only issue l'm having with all of this is a blown axle seal doesn't make noise but and exit bearing does. What I'm getting at is maybe your seal got beat by the shaft because the Bearing went bad.

Figured out to achieve changing the seal, at least on the passenger side which is where mine is leaking. You have to use a special tool to remove the stubby axle shaft that's in the transmission itself. Kinda ridiculous, a $200+ tool just for that. definitely gonna have to take it somewhere to achieve getting that done.

You can buy the tool for about $100 online.

What noise is the vehicle making, specifically?

Don't really wanna spend $100 just for a tool for a 1 time use, maybe would still be a cheaper alternative than someone else doing it I guess. And as far as the first noise when I thought it was was brake pads was just a scrubbing noise when applying the brakes. Haven't really figured out what's causing that, pads and rotors was fine.

Can always the sell the tool when you're done. If your local dealer doesn't suck, you might be able to borrow the proper tool as well.
