Sloppy Stick Shift

My stick is pretty sloppy and sometimes I miss gears when shifting. Has anyone replaced their shifter bushings and if so, what kit did you use? I have seen a few ranging from $20 to $40 and wanted some feed back on what others have done.

I have searched and haven't found the answer I am looking for yet or at least the confirmation I am looking for.

I see this thread: https://www.yourcobalt.com/forums/twm...-bushings.html
but not sure if this will fix what I want. I def don't want a short shifter or a short shift kit, yet....

It looks like this is what I would need: https://www.twmperformance.com/bushi...lt-bushing-kit

Is that correct?

Thanks!

Hey Fat , nice of you to post abour your new to you Cobalt.

Have not seen any feedback, reports, or installs on these bushings.

If thats the way you go, others here would love to get your feedback with before, during, and after pictures.

So I installed the bushings, but when I was installing them, it quickly became apparent that they were not going to solve my issue. Install of the bushings was easy and straight forward. It probably would have taking about 15 mins if that was all I did. My issues is the plastic ball on the shifter is considerably worn. I would love to replace it but not really want to spend the money on a short shifter.

Anyone install a short shifter and have a the original shift lever still that is in good condition? I can't seem to find one online.

The cheapest thing I could find is the cosmo short shifter but I don't really like how low it is in the shift boot.
here is the link to the cosmo: Street Tuning Auto Piece BMW Performance Parts - COSMO Racing

Anyone have any other options I can look at?

This is my commuter car and I didn't pay much for it and I am trying to keep things cheap. So far this car has been super easy to work on though.
