SPRING 10
May 1-2 2010 VA MEET

Location: Breaks Interstate Park VA/KY
Also known as The Grand Canyon of The South

Dates are: MAY 1-2 2010 (pretty much just the 1st tho)

ALSO!
No need to bring food for the shelter or anything, there is a restaurant in the park & that's where we'll be eating if you want



















Accommodations
Motor Lodge
The Lodge offers 82 rooms and one 2-room suite. Most rooms have 2 double beds, although we have some rooms with king beds. Each room has a private bath and a private balcony. Most rooms are within walking distance from the restaurant and gift shop.
Cottages
Secluded in peaceful woodlands are two-bedroom, fully equipped family cottages. Open year-round.
Campground
Campers can choose from among 122 campsites with utilities. Opens April 1- October 31. No reservations taken.
Dining
Rhododendron Restaurant offers fine dining with a breathtaking view. The restaurant features both a main dining room and adjacent banquet room for meetings. Open April 1- December 21. Hours are 7 am to 9 pm.
Visitor's Center
The area's natural and historical features are highlighted in exhibits in this interpretive center. Open April 1 - October 31.
Gift Shop
Shoppers will find a wonderful variety of fine gifts to choose from in the shop, located in the restaurant complex. Open April 1- December 21 .
Pool
Opens Memorial Day Weekend, on Saturday. Hours are 11:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. Sunday thru Thursday, and 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The pool will remain open each day until the middle of August, and then it will open on Saturday and Sunday only, until Labor Day.
Water Sports
Boat Dock BTW, these pedal boats are a BLAST!!!!
Pedal boats are available for rent by the hour or half-hour. Hours are 10 am - 6 pm Monday - Friday and 10 am - 8 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Fishing
The park embraces 12-acre Laurel Lake , which has a population of bass and bluegill. only boats with electric motors allowed.
White Water Rafting
For the serious boater, whitewater rafting is available on the Russell Fork River. Rafting depends upon releases from the reservoir. For information, call the park headquarters.
Horseback Riding Stable
Will be available during the 2009 season.
Other Recreational Facilities
Mountain Biking
Breathtaking scenery and thrilling trails we have a stack loop trail system with over 10 miles of riding trails from moderate to difficult.
Amphitheater
In a shaded, natural setting, visitors can enjoy nature programs, bluegrass music and gospel festivals.
Hiking Trails
The Park has approximately 25 miles of hiking trails. They range from easy to difficult.
Picnicking
Picnic areas are plentiful. Shelters are located throughout the park. Picnic shelters can be reserved through rental. Open year-round; Call for shelter rental information.

Park Entrance Fee
Per Car: $2.00
Per Bus: $3.00
Lodge
Open year-round
High Speed Internet Access Available.
Government Rates available Monday-Thursday only.
Non-smoking and smoking rooms available.
Eighty-two (82) rooms available and one 2-room suite.
Pets are allowed for a fee of $7.00 per night, per pet. (Designated rooms only.)
Individual Rates
Room rates start at $61.00 per night, single occupancy.
Children 10 and under are free.
Sales tax is added.
Rates slightly higher Weekends, Holidays, July and October.
Group Rates
Minimum 10 rooms.
Rates good Monday-Thursday only, during peak season
No group rates are available on holidays or in July or October.
Rates are $54.00 for one person and $59.00 for two.
Sales tax is added.
Cottages
Open year-round
Two bedroom cottages rented nightly/weekly (Monday-Monday).
$525.00 per week up to four (4) people. Rent up to 10 maximum.
There is a charge of $30.00 per week for the additional person.
Reservations required.
Log Cabins
New Log Cabins on Laurel Lake
Two Bedroom starting at $160.00
Three Bedroom starting at $195.00
Available by the night or week
Campground
Open April 1 - October 31
Tent Site - $12.00 per night, per site. .
Sites with electricity, water and sewer availible. Price range $15-$20.
Two vehicles and one camping unit per site, up to six (6) people.
Golf cart rental available, $10.00 per hour, $35.00 per day, must be returned nightly.
Picnic Shelters
Shelters are available to accommodate large groups such as picnics, family reunions, weddings, church and civic gatherings. Reservations are accepted year to date. Call for rates.

Swimming Pool
Open Memorial Day weekend (Saturday) through Labor Day (Monday)
Adults: $5.00
Children (2-10): $3.00
Under 2 years: FREE
Pedal Boats
March 30 - October 31
Rental Fee (1/2 hour): $4.00
Rental Fee (1 hour): $6.00

Sounds good. That's a 7hr drive for me so I'll definately stay overnight. I think we should hold the meet around late April/early May...
