YC Revitalization Project!

OK guys, as I mentioned in the March Randomness thread, I would like to help get this forum back on it's feet! We had a great thing here and as we all know, the change in ownership created some havoc! But I can tell you that Autoguide wants us to run the forum the way we want so my question to you is what can we do to make this place fun again? I've heard you all sit back and b i t c h about the new owners but no one has presented a reason as to why it is so bad.

I want to hear some of your reasons for the Autoguide resentment but only if it is constructive and you must also present a solution to your comment. I don't want to see any rude comments that do nothing but get you banned. Please...this is to be a member organized overhaul! Be constructive and be helpful! If you can't or wont...then you are invited to leave. There is no sense shitting all over the forum just for the fun of it. We are going to make this place better that it once was!

So lets hear your ideas and comments! Do you want new moderators? Do you want a new forum section added? I'm all ears! This is your time to be heard and to have an impact on how this forum grows!

WHAT"S UP ROCKET!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have noticed the decrease of people since I've been gone. It really sucks, I mean I really enjoy talking to all yall when I am deployed. It's kind of a morale decrease ever since they took over. If you did a review of this website and the number of posts back when it was not ran by them you would see a DRAMATIC decrease in traffic. That alone would be immediate feedback and should go to show that they have ran this site for the most part in to the ground.

True, but I wanna know why? They are just the owners and really don't NEED to participate. It's the members that make the forum...

I'll put it to you this way in military terms. What if we elected a president and after all the campaigning and talking that was going on we never heard from the president. He never made speeches or public appearances. He just sat there collecting taxpayers money??? Or Since i'm military i'll put it in my realtion. If we had a commander that just sat there and never went out and met his troops or seen how they were doing. The morale would die down. No one would want to perform or do anything because there is no interaction. That's why INVOLVEMENT and COMMUNICATION are key to success in any leader's job.

This site had that in the Admin and previous owners. They were one of the gang but not to the point where they just let people get away with stupid crap. They still set the boundaries but did house calls so to speak to check on there people. Site admins that do that generate positive KARMA throughout the site and that's where all the member's thrive.

I could just be out in left field but as a SSgt and all the leadership classes I've learned a thing or to (Can't believe i'm saying this haha) and I notice things a lot more than I used to do.

Excellent observations and i do agree...however, Auto guide isn't going to participate like that. That's why they keep an active staff of Admins and Super Mods. Like I said, it is still up to us to run the forum. I don't see a problem in having a silent partner. We get to run a big forum without any of the hardships of being a webmaster...no server bills, no remote backups rarely ever any downtime!

Sure, they pull in the money from advertising but hey, it covers expenses and Admins, like me, rarely ever want to start a forum to make money anyway...we do it for the joy of helping other people and creating a community focused on a common love or interest. So, I have an opportunity to run a forum that helps fellow Balt owners but I don't have any out of pocket expenses to worry about!

So what can we do to get people involved again? Lets here your suggestions.

Well do a morale booster. Have the owners do a small give away maybe a decal or whatever for people that win the monthly Cobalt Showoff. The main thing that killed the site is all the OLD DOGS are gone or just not as active anymore and all these new people come on here possibly read some of these negative posts and then leave to another site. I really have not been on here that much because Everyone that i know on here is just not logging on and there are to many new people. Just gets hectic. I really don't have the answer for how to improve the site but something drastically changed before I went to the desert till now. Where have all the older admin went to that used to be on all the time?

Itís unfortunate a thread like this was not made earlier. Why has it taken so long? Autoguide has owned the site for months and the hatred (for lack of a better word) for them has been around just as long. A thread like this should have been started a long time ago.

You are 100% correct saying the members make the forum. YC was a close-knit and the best cobalt community out there. However, member and staff suggestions were not being listened to and the general vibe from Autoguide was that they did not care about YC. This caused members to leave or become less active.

I think reviving the moral of YC may be an uphill battle but here are a few suggestions for the site itself:

Create an events/meet calendar

Update the appearance (looks like plans are already in the works for this). It would be nice if the color was changed or if you could have a choice of multiple color schemes.

Update the home page so the COTM winner has a permanent spot; not just a thread that floats down, so their ride is more showcased.

I really hope something comes of this thread.

So, what's with the bad PR on Autoguide? I truly don't know much about them or how things used to be. What's the heart of this issue here?

this site was awesome, and then it went to crap. we were neglected, and it pissed me off for sure. so i went to another place, where the owner won't sell us out and let the quality of the site dwindle.
