I need to know whats the problem & how to fix it! Ive had the console apart & cleaned the park pin, everything seems good. The switch on the drivers side of shifter that works with the brake pedal seems to be the problem.Mine worked several times while it's apart, soon as I put it back together it stuck again.GM says to replace the entire shifter assembly. If this is such a common issue why hasn't it been recalled?? Anyone out there know the exact diagnosis & fix.I am not replacing the shifter assembly because the key wont come out,It has to be something easier than that!! Thanks, Mitch

Do you hear it actuate when you press the brake pedal? Wait now that is not the switch that would stop your key from coming out it is the one on the other side that gets activated by the shifter when in "P"ark. Did you check for a broken wire? Did you check the switch for continuity? Also if your battery post connectors get loose or dirty for some reason this will also stop your key from coming out.
