In the process of changing my timing chain and intake and exhaust sprockets are out of alignment by 180 degrees. Tried to turn cam clockwise to align timing marks but cam will only turn so far. I have not put the chain back on due to the timing marks being reversed. What am I doing wrong? What would be keeping them from turning?

You are not suppose to turn the cam like that you will bend the valves as they will hit the top of the piston that is top dead. Now you may have to remove the head to inspect the valves. Before removing the old chain you are suppose to turn the engine so that piston one is top dead and the key on your damper is at 12 o'clock. Then you lock everything into place with zip ties. Remove tensionner and then the old chain, inspect guides, reverse procedure line-up marks.

Maybe somebody else will chime in and salvage your oops!
