Hey guys. My son has a 2007 cobalt LT Sedan. We have done a lot of work on this car. He has this rattle and slop in the steering wheel. I’ve done a bit of research and found out that it could be the intermediate steering shaft and U joint. I’ve seen videos on how to replace that. It looks straightforward.

But I have also found out that the steering column has a flaw with some plastic parts that wear out. obviously that’s a more complicated project because it requires removing part of the dashboard.

are there any tutorials or videos which help explain how to replace the steering column assembly on that car? The way I understand it is there are no third-party manufacturers for that product. So it’s only GM and costs $350

Can you can post some information on how to change this thing out?

Thanks!

I’ve had a very difficult time trying to find a new steering column for his car. This is going to be Plan B if the intermediate steering shaft doesn’t completely resolve the problem.

Does anyone have a part number for this steering column? 2007 cobalt LT, automatic transmission

Thanks for any help on this.
