Has anyone done any aeromods and have pictures?
I'm interested to see how they're done

in a week or two it'll be a constant temp of below 40 degrees till February/March
So i've considered an upper grill block and partial if not full lower grill block

and i saw a guide on a different car of creating a sheet from the bumper to the frame to create a smooth flow under the car

I know not to expect much but in a little less than a month i'll be driving 1200 miles so every bit makes a difference

Yea but once it hits 217F the electric fan turns on which in turn makes the alternator work harder and increases parasidic drag on the engine thus reducing your mpg.

One trick some have done with older cars is put in a higher temp thermostat.
Havn't looked into the possibility of that to see if that is even possible with Cobalts though.

I did a skid plate/aero mod to the underside of my car.
Nice! i saw that one done on a different car could you give me some info on what you used and how you did it? i'd like to have it for the aero and for when a parking space is inclined and the sidewalk inmfront of it is inclined the opposite way and my frame/bumper catches the edge of the sidewalk (happened more than once in my travels)

Also,i've been getting 32-35 without any mods so far so i'll be sure to keep notes on the change the only reason i got 32 on this last run is that there was a lot of wind fighting me,storms,and traffic and i've been procrastinating the oil change

I purchased a sheet of ABS plastic that is 3/16" thick and 32" wide by 48" long From "http://www.tapplastics.com/shop/product.php?pid=335" The sheet of ABS plastic shipped was ~$80.]

I should also mention this is for a 2010 XFE cobalt 5 speed and has no A/C. So you might have different clearances if you're gonna put your own in.

I was able to tap four holes on the frame so no drilling! I then used seven other zip ties that went threw existing holes and the cross bar under the radiator.

Where the skid plate and the air dam meet I plan on riveting some right angle plastic holders (similar in what you use for cheap book shelves) to help give the skid plate some support in the very front of it.

To tell you the truth I really haven't noticed a big difference in MPGs but it is nice to have something protect the radiator from things underneath. ex. rabbits, large ice chunks and road grime.

I'd also recommend trying to use as mush stainless steel or aluminum fittings so that you don't have to worry about much rustiness.

Nice,well it really won't be a huge difference it's really alot of little things that add up,i must say it does look clean i'll probably be looking to make something different with a little lower price tag

Next time elections come around pick up some signs on voting night.

I have about 6 - 10 sheets of 4ft by 8ft corrugated plastic signs above my garage waiting for me to get off my lazy butt to do something with them.

I would just watch out for the exhaust as the plastic signs will melt at a much lower temp then the ABS stuff Black used.

No offense, but has it proven to be more efficient? The concept is obviously proven. But does your version help? Weight addition is just one of my thoughts here. Post up any benefits you see. Btw, I am by no means an engineer. Lol

100 lbs cost you roughly 1 mpg mixed driving.

The belly pan would help a good bit over 50 mph so if you drive mostly highways it would be worth it.
This guy has done much more research than i have,i just do some occasional mods as a hobby
