I just recently purchased a 2008 Chevy Cobalt LT with the 2.2 liter engine. I've noticed when I'm around 40-50 mph just hardly pressing the gas pedal the RPM's like to jump up and down and jerk the car a tad bit. The tranny seems to shift fine when you accelerate hard. I hope someone knows what I can do to fix this issue!

How far do they jump?

Giving it a bit of gas in that range is usually causing the trans to unlock the torque converter. But it's not usually jerky.

Check oil level, it sounds like your torque converter is starving a bit.

I don't know if the problem was fixed but I had this problem too and it was due to a gas leak. I also on the safe side put a brand new serpentine belt in, runs like no other haha.

are there any codes posted on the "mil"? I had issues like this and it was a shift solenoid. it was a pain to get to on the 2.2 Ecotec. the code didn't show up as a hard code until a few months later.
