Hi, My gf has a 2010 cobalt with auto transmission about 80k miles. Started shifting hard slipping.

She went to mechanic who installed a used transmission(mistake 1)

Worked well for about a week now it is hard shifting intermittantly and making a noise. I think it is probably the same as before.

Codes are all sensor related, check engine is not on.
0717 input turbine speed sensor

0706 Transmission range sensor

1818 TFP valve position switch

0711 Transmission temperature sensor circuit

Mechanic says 500 more to replace sensors but he recommends trading it in. I suspect he has no idea what he is doing.

After installing the new trans does the computer have to be reprogrammed or anything like that as these all seem to be sensor/computer issues.

Anyone have any idea how to fix or proceed. Mechanic says transmission is fine and it is computer related and won't fix anything without more cash. Which she does not have and think she may have to cut her losses at this point anyway.

What were the codes before? No programming is needed if TCM wasn't changed.

OK so no programming needed. thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I did not get involved til after trans was replaced and I don't know what the previous codes were.

Maybe you just lost GMLan because of corrosion on the BCM P1 connector pins, this is a common problem that makes the transmission jerky and the cluster goes a bit crazy. Solution is just to unplug and re-plug this connector to clean it out, maybe add dielectric grease.This would explain why the replacement doesn't work any better because the problem wasn't the transmission to begin with.

You know thats what I am thinking at this point after doing a little research. Gonna check it out tomorow.

I believe I have experienced this before. Use to lose majority power, gauges would go up and down. Car acted like it wouldn't want to go. Hasn't done it in a long time knock on wood.
