Alright, here's my situation

A guy backs into me the other day (while i was parked), leaving a 2' scuff and a 6" scratch deep enough to the primer. He says he will "get a guy to fix it up, no problem" for me, and he'll pay damages. Being in shock, I say ok, I'll call you later, and later on i clean the area and realize the real damage to my car is a 6" deep scratch.. I get a few quotes at repair shops, each totaling about $500 to fix it up right. I did not file a police report, but i just reported it to campus security instead, and talked to the head of campus security the other day. I told the guy that hit me if this 3rd party doesn't fix it correctly with a buffer, which the auto repair shops claim needs to be re painted, then were going to have problems, and i plan on him signing a contract before he begins work to have a pro fix it if it isn't good enough on Monday. Suggestions?

Will your insurance cover it? Most insurance companys will cover it if you are parked.

I came out of a meeting to find a car parked against my front bumper. It was on a parking lot so I notified the police. They filed an incident report. The other party's insurance contacted me. I got an estimate and they paid me within a week. I would say contact your insurance agent and find out how to file a report or make a claim on the other party's insurance.

Unfortunately I have a $500 deductible so I can't file a claim through my insurance. If i did my insurance would go up and I'd have to pay out of pocket anyways. He has to go through his insurance if this 3rd party guy can't fix it properly... guess we'll try this tomorrow and go from there...blah
