I just bought a 2006 Cobalt and I'd like to know the battery date. It's got a silver label on top with some yellow on one side. The label has a catalog #8415. Stamped into the plastic case on top at the back is this code:

6DN10 2

What's the date?

Al

Just to close out this thread. A helpful New Jersey Chevy dealer(not the one who did the faulty installation of the ignition switch)did some research and got the answer of April 2006 - same as the date of manufacture for the car. Apparently 6 refers to 2006 and 10 2 could be the 102nd day of the year or April 12. it's remarkable that the battery lasted almost 9 years.

Still have original battery in my 2006. Remarkable, i don't think so. I am not surprised. The trunk is a less harsh environment. Cleaner, no salt, no cold/hot cycles from engine heat.
I can tell its time for a new one now, volts drop too fast when car turned off.

When I bought my daughter's 2006 balt last Jan, the 1st thing I had to replace was her battery...it was the original. 8-yrs is pretty decent life-cycle & hope to get the same from #2. :D
