so i cant let gCobalt be the only person in here starting this random freaking thread so i decided to get one going. this is for any wreck you've ever been in. post up the pics and tell your story. i'll start first

I was pulling out of sonic into the turn around on the highway when this guy that was trying to beat traffic pulled out and gunned it. he drove down the entire left side of my car and if i hadn't moved he would have hit the fender instead of the door. his insurance covered it. body shop quoted me two weeks...turned into three months. New door, axle, rear suspension, bumper, quarter panel, rim, and a lot of frame work on the rack. took them two tries to get a decent paint job and i had to open up a claim with the Better Business Bureau on them.

i haz broken wal-mart wheel in that last one

that damn 1982 GMC Sierra wasnt soft either :evil::mad::mad::sad:

wow, why was it not totalled? Looks and sounded like it should of been if it had something to do with the frame.

I have no pics of my two accidents. First once when I had my Lincoln LS8. I was leaving work and was going out of an aisle in the parking lot. I stopped(no sign mind ya) and looked both ways like 3 times each and just as I gunned it(so to speak) I see this truck driving over the front end of the car and almost rolling. It was a silver Silverado lol. Tore up the front of the car good, one month at the shop and it was better than it was before the wreck lol.

The second was when I had my Cobalt LS. I was driving over a bridge that was two lanes for about a 1/4 mi. I was in the lane that would remain open. Just cruising and when I got to the end where the other lane ends some van, ford windstar, just flys up beside me and tried to cut over infront, instead he nailed my passenger side fender. It was some young punk in his parents vehicle trying to take his lil brother to school. They tried to later say it was all my fault, hahaha. My car was driveable till the shop got the parts in, but the fend and hubcap needed to be replaced along with the headlight, hood and bumper just needed to be touched up. Best part, was there was no one behind me, so why the hell didn't he just get in behind!?!? There wasn't room for anything to get infront as there was 3 cars ahead. Douchebags!

because it didnt come up to the "totaled" amount. it was only 1 year and 3 months old so they wouldnt total it because it was still worth too much. i call bullshit. progressive insurance is a waste of life. and yeah..the guy tried to blame it on me too, till they saw the damage on my car and i had like 3 witnesses to the wreck

1. Friend rolled a car when I was a passenger my senior year in high school...totaled her car, we both came out ok, nothing serious...were lucky. Someone turned in front of us to turn left out of the right hand lane on a one way road. She hit the car & then the curb, which somehow cause it to roll over on its top. I had a head injury, so their insurance company hounded my parents for a year to sign off on it, they never did.

2. Been hit from behind just sitting at a red light minding my own business. I was in my WRX I'd purchased with road rash on the front bumper. Lady slammed into me full speed and pushed me into the car in front of me. Got both bumpers fixed like new out of that one. The lady told the police she'd just gotten her car fixed from an accident in a parking lot the month before! Then she "forgot" to tell her insurance agent about my front bumper, claimed it was just my back bumper. Her agent wasn't very happy.

3. Again sitting at a red light in a left turn lane. Person in front of me slams it into reverse and backs into me because he freaked out at a truck turning. Trucker finished his turn and probably laughed about it the rest of the day. I was driving an 1980 AMC Eagle wagon with bounce back bumpers. My car was unharmed, his minivan tailgate was crunched. He didn't even bother getting off his cell phone & didn't want to report it & drove off.

well I don't have pics of mine either. we were coming back to Fort St John from Vancouver(about 14 hours) and a bit over half way theres a mountain stretch with no cell service and super dangerous. a lady lost control of her caliber and hit the barricade. we came around the corner and saw it so we pulled over to help her. my dad got out and I put on my shoes and went to get out(I was in the back seat of our truck). as I went to get out a guy came around the corner with a empty horse trailer and lost control(he was doing about 130km/h in an icy 90 km/h zone) and his truck fishtail and like an idiot he over corrected so much that the trailor came whipping at our truck. it missed my dad(out at helping the lady) by about a foot and slammed into the back corner of our truck. it destroyed the bed and ripped off the axle. It toalled up to be about $40K in damage to our truck alone. unfortunately it was a like two month old sierra half ton and it is the highest most optioned model so it wasn't written off. the funny part is about 2 weeks later I was giving my grandma and one of her friends a ride to the airport and the lady told me about how her nephew was in an accident a couple weeks ago... sure enough it was the same a hole

Well I haven't been in a "wreck", but I had my car backed into by a neighbor of my in-laws while parked in front of their house last year. It was around $1000 in damage for just a minor bump and a lot of scratches to the driver's side rear quarter just above the wheel well. Her insurance covered the repairs and my rental so I can't complain.

ive been in two, the more serious of the two involved me and my girlfriend on the way to the movie theatre in january, it was -16 outside, and thankfully we took my moms durango, but i was driving in my lane doing 40 mph in a 35, i saw two cars in the oncoming lane pulled off to the side, paid little attention to them, next thing i know i see for a split second headlights directally infront of me, im still in my lane, i swirve to the right but to little avail as BOOM smacked head on, at a slight angle to the right which sent both my durango and the van that hit us into a telephone pole. me and my girlfriend both had cerebral concussions and the force of the impact was so great that her door, which was not hit and did not look to be touched at all, could not be opened. the insurance company quickly totaled the durango lol, but that was a bad wreck seriously. i guess the whole story, which i learned from standing out in -16 degree weather for like an hour, was that the guy that hit me had somehow rearended two seperate cars, then tried to run from the scene and smacked into me head one, HA i stopped that bastard, so yeah that was my worst wreck ever, got a concussion and a dislocated thumb from the steering wheel needless to say we are taking him to court for this little incident

haha glad I inspired something... to bad its a wreck thread! LOL
ok, so not every1 checks out the random thread so here's my wreck story:

i cried more over the car than I did my pain... ok it happend just after a snow, so the road had pea gravel on it & the roads in VA blow, so i came around a curve goin about 40-45, it the gravel & potholish pavement & the car fishtailed, i thought I had it controlled but something happend and the whole car kicked sideways & i slid for a couple of feet and went airborn over a 25ft flood wall & landed under a bridge. The damage on the side of the car is actually the beam that supports the bridge itself, that's how far of an angle i was pointed down into the creek, and all the front damage came from slammin into the concrete from the flood wall on the other side of the creek, landed directly under it. I saw the car hit head on, heard the exhaust get louder from going airborn, all 3 airbags deployed, glass went everywhere, had to kick myself out of the car and wade thru the creek in JANUARY, i couldnt walk cuz i put all my weight on my break when i went airborn & i guess the impact of the hit hurt my ankle pretty bad (it still hurts sometimes), so i collapsed on the creek bank & layed there for 15min b4 any1 even found me... & that was the man who lived there, he drove across the bridge & had NO idea i was there, so i started yellin "help!" and he came to the bank & said "what happend, why r u down there" i was like "I WRECKED! DONT YOU SEE MY CAR IN THE CREEK!!!?" he had to get on the bridge & look DIRECTLY down before he even saw the car, so they called 911--the firedept FINALLY came & as soon as i saw a familar face, i started bawlin-i grew up around that fire dept, my dad is the chief (he's also a cop & when they radio'd him about my wreck, he said 'blue lights & siren all the way there') they flipped out when they saw it was me, but i laughed & told them they better not drop me or i'd tell dad on them, haha... but it was bad... very bad... scary... im just now over it & that was over a year ago....... if some1 heard me screaming they would have thought i had a child down there w/ me cuz i kept saying "OMG MY BABY!" shew bad bad day... but i only got bruised up a little and hurt my foot really bad, but im ok now... lol

PIX!

totalled!!! I wish it was fixable tho :(

That was a pretty slick tC, lobalt.. I feel your pain.. I wept a lil' bit inside too.. :(

It's a shame to see someones love and devotion totalled like that :\
Yeah  I hate it for any1 who has to see their hard work crushed on a rollback...............
There for a while there was like a lowrider/minitruck curse going on... I totaled mine, another friend of mine totaled his, then another got red-tagged, and then another totaled... but we've all got new rides & have started over... I pray I dont wreck the lobalt, I'm just glad my passion didnt go down w/ the car, or the balt would still b stock... lol

I've never been in a wreck, but I've been minorly rear-ended 3 times. Once driving, twice in other people's cars. All three I was in a car and twice we were hit by SUVs who blamed it on thier ABS freaking out. Riiight. Pay a little more attention and you won't have to slame your brakes and engage it.

I'm terrified of crashing my baby. I've never driven her in snow or ice, and I'm moving from flat Illinois to hill-y Pennsylvania in 3 weeks. I could hold my own on snow and ice in my Saturn, but I haven't had the Cobalt long enough to really get to know how she'll spin. I'm crossing my fingers this winter, that's for sure.

Winter 2005(Coming home from SRU for xmas break):
At the time I was a pretty confident driver. It had just snowed, really hard, and in an hour or so there was already 3 inches or so on the ground and it was pure slush. I wanted to get home to see my guy before I went back to my parents house. When I left it was still comin down pretty freakin hard. I was a mile away from rt 80 on rt 79 when I got up behind a semi. I should have just slowed down and waited for my exit, but I thought I could make it. I went to get in the left lane, I was fine for a split second and then my car started fish tailing. I almost had it under control, but then lost it. Some how, my car did a 180, flew into the median (good thing it was a hilly median), up into the air, flew about 100 yards (I think due to where the tracks started and then where I landed), I flipped 4 or 5 times, landed right side up.... And that's the end.
