Does anyone know where i can get a Black Bowtie for the front and back of my car to replace the gold ones? If I cant buy one, what is an easy way to make it black without it looking like crap?

Any help would be appreciated!

just paint it. give it a light sanding with 1000 grit sandpaper, spray paint it, then hit it with some clear coat. You can do it for under 10$

The fronts are removed by two 10mm nuts behind the grill. The rear is a little trickier but a hair dryer and fishing line will do. Then use goo gone to get the rest of the sticky stuff off. Then after you have painted it simply clean the spot you are going to put it on and use 3m adhesive tape to reattach it.

I want to keep the silver border though on the bowtie. I am not the best at "do-it-yourself things so what is the hair dryer and fishing line for? Also, won't paint chip after awhile?

You can tape off the silver boarder with masking tape. The hair dryer you use to heat up the adhesive in the back and use the fishing line to work behind the bowtie to separate it from the trunk deck.

As long as your surface is clean and you use several light coats your paint won't chip. The clear coat will help with that as well.

Your going to have to take the bowtie off if you paint it. Just use masking tape on the silver, and paint it, it's not at all hard. Probably the easiest DIY mod you'll ever do...

Its a lot easier to just take the emblem off the car and then separate the gold piece from the chrome one and paint it. This way there is no need for masking and will look the best. The two parts are held together with some double face tape. Just take your time and with a screwdriver you can get them apart. To put them back together just use some superglue or any other type of adhesive

Hey I just wanted to let you guys know, I took some of your advice when painting the bowtie. I actually left the bowtie on the car, front and back. I just taped the chrome part so I wouldn't paint that part. Then I put newspaper all around the car so no paint would get on the car. I used the 1000 sand paper to sand the bowtie's down really good and spary painted them. It took a few coats but I did it that way so it would not run. Once it was dry, I took all the paper off and just used a razor blade to carefully take any little paint that got on the chrome part, which wasnt too much.

Thanks guys for the advice, I just got my car about 2 weeks ago and I am on this site almost everyday!
