Hey guys, so when I was installing my power locks, I ran into a problem, and fixed it by slotting the wires out of the harness but now you can see wires coming out of the harness and I dont like it. when I was running the wires into the tube that goes from the door to the dash I ran into this big connector that seems pointless. I am almost certain that I can cut it out and delete it thus making it easier for me to run my wires.

Question is am I right? I have an 05 so no side airbags, and no fancy electronics in the door, only speakers that dont work and are being replaced with speaker wire.

Seems like a waste of time, there is only one wire in that connector why not take the trouble off my hands and just remove it and run my wires that way, more solid connection and no chances of connections becoming loose

How about water filtering in the door? ...or cables coming loose, what if later you want to add power windows or how does your speaker cables are connected? I'm just saying am the kind of person that likes to keep it nice, clean and organized, not a fan of loose cables or cover with electrical type... Is up to you actually, putting the cables in the pins is less work than cutting, taping and fixing the mess actually lol

cutting? there would be no cutting of any kind. im already replacing my sleakers and the wiring aswell. and trust me im the kind of guy that does things right the first time when i dkd my power locks i ran the wires and covefed. them with the wire tubing snd tistrapped nicely. nothing i do is halfassed and the connector is just in the way. no point in having it

I hear you, and I respect you opinion I mean as I said at the end is how you feel, and when I say cutting I mean how are you ganna delete the conector?..you will cut it don't you? Or what you mean by deleting?...once again IMO I would pin the cables to the conector and yeah the speakers should be in that conector if you re-wire out of it that's a different story. When Did the wiring for my power locks/windows and speakers I just simply pinned the cables to the OEM connectors it came out clean, looks "stock" and I love it. Once again is really up to you.

Don't do a hack job. Like tekila said, the conduit keeps water out of your door and keeps door/sheet metal from pinching/slicing your wires. We always needs to consider that engineers put things in for a reason.

The only problem I forsee in deleting that particular connector is if you ever have a little accident and you need to replace the complete door you won't be able to quickly just disconnect. If you are getting the work done at a body shop this means more labour therefore more expense. But buddy it's your car do as you wish. Myself I would leave it and get a few pins and wire it properly. I can get you the pin-out if you need it. Just let me know the year.

What option? For example here is the connector and terminal part numbers for this option. You can get the pins at the dealer or GM online sellers.

Then it's a different connector. MIght be same pins though let me check.

And of course this one doesn't list the pin part number, but let me keep trying for a bit.

Well, it's a 280C series connector also so it must use the same pins as the first one. But if you ask a competent GM parts sales person, they should be able to tell you exactly which one you need. Once you have the part number you may be able to get them on-line cheaper than at the Stealership.
