So yesterday i changed the battery on the alarm remote for my 07 chevy cobalt and now it wont turn on. Im sure it must have something to do with it because i tried taking the battery of the remote out and the car started. Then i put the battwry back in and it stopped turning on again. Now no matter what it wont turn on. It doesnt crank. No noises coming from engine when trying to turn it on. Please help i have a newborn baby and need the car asap

Thank you in advance

Do you mean the car won't start with the remote start or the car just won't start with the key?

The FOB itself has no way of stopping the car from starting with the key. Coincidences happen. I would make sure the car battery is good. This time of the year with cooler temperatures batteries fail.

Isn't yours an XFE? Those things had basically no options to keep them as light as possible to maximize fuel economy.

Mine is automatic and came with an alarm system. And i had thr battery checked yesterday and they said its a good battery. Its just too much of a coincidence that as soon as i put the battery in the remote the car wouldnt start then immediately after taking the battery out it started perfectly fine. Then again after putting the battery back in the car it wont start. Now no matter if i put the old battery (which shouldnt matter if its old or new) it wont start at all.

I'm telling you there is no way your FOB can stop your car from starting with the key.

Ok so what other possibilities am i looking at here if it is just a coincidence? The car never showed any signs of something messing up. No noices in engine or anything out of the ordinary. When trying to start the car It just clicks once. (Seems like its from the starter) but does nothing afterwards.

Bad ground at starter or engine, boost post loose, loose connection at battery, it could be a lot of things but not your FOBs.

So today about an hour ago i tried turning it on and nothing. Then i left with another car far from the cobalt and took the battery back out of the remote and left it out. Then went back home to my car and tried turning it on and it turns on! Im not sure exactly what happend but it seems like it has to be something to do with the remote and key not syncing or something. To anyone that has the same problem as me they could try what i did. Who knows what exactly happened here though. Thank everyone for trying to help anyways

Something sounds Not Quite Right.

Problem Statement:
With a battery in your key fob, the car will not start with the ignition key.
With the battery out of the key fob, your car Will start with the ignition key...Yes?

If so, 2 things
First you have a hard short in your key fob and it is transmittion all of the time.

Second you might havema glitch in your Remote
Control Door Lock Receiver
(RCDLR).

Solution is a two part solution.
First have a great key fob repair done on your key fob, they will have the tools to tedt & repair as necessary.

After you know your key fob is working correctly confirm your original Problem Statement.
If your problem continues
Have someone with a good GM programer test & reprogram your RCDLR

If you need to find someone to test & repair, as necessay, your key fob, there is a person quite knowledgeable on these transmitters that can fix it if it is bad and tell you it it is not. He is a Super Moderator here on the forum and can tell you if there is an issue with your key fob.

I guess something happened to the remote. I havent tried putting the battery back in just in case anything does happen and the car wont start again. I been driving the car and its been driving and turning on like normal. Will have the remote checked by a specialist because having an alarm and not beeing able to use it sucks.

Hopefully my last reply. Apparently it was all coincidence since after my last post that i got the car running it decided to not turn on again and i ended up taking it to my mechanic. Come to find out my starter had died on me. Now it works flawless
