I hate to make another post about this, but I searched and searched and cannot find the problem on my car.

About my car - 100K miles. BRAND new brakes (caliper hardware, drums, rotors, pads, shoes). New tires with alignment. Control arm bushings are good. End links feel tight - (no play or clunk when pulled on by hand). Sway bar bushings look to be good. Ball joints are good. I have not checked the rack and pinion, but I will be later tonight.

Heavy clunking noise with moderate braking above 30 mph. Clunk can be felt in steering wheel and brake pedal.

I pulled 60 amp fuse ( to check for gear backlash) and the problem was still present.

The clunking has progressively gotten worse over the past week.

I don't want to shell out a grand to replace everything in the front end to figure out what the problem is..

I'm assuming the strut mounts & struts need to be replaced, but could that cause this problem that is only present during moderate braking?

I've seen people state their fix was anything from intermediate shaft to end links, but as stated when I checked and did tests from TSB's, nothing came of it.

And yes, all work that has been done has been torqued to spec.

You are describing the tump from intermediate shaft Ujoint though. Have somebody turn the steering while you look at Ujoint. Leave car on the ground so there is resistance. If you see that the Ujoint kicks and isn't smooth than that's your problem. It could also be the shim where the power steering motor butts to the steering shaft but usually that makes noise when you steer side to side.

I will double check it when I get home. Just to be clear, you want me to check theu joint under the dash right where it connects to the power steering column correct?

No, the one that connects to the steering rack, it's the one exposed to the elements.
