I have an 07 Cobalt LT. Bone stock with the exception of aftermarket wheels. Meticulously maintained. Since new, this car has been plagued with problems. Now out of warranty, I cringe at the thought of taking it to the dealer. I'm hoping that someone might be able to help. My current problems are: (ISSUE #1) The DIC (driver Information center) locks up intermittently. All buttons on the DIC become unresponsive and the display stays stuck on the same view. (ISSUE #2) The factory installed remote starter has stopped working. This happened once before while under warranty and the problem ended up being a bad hood latch sensor. I'm guessing it went bad again but do not want to just start replacing parts. Symptoms are the same. When the remote start is pushed I get 2 blinks out of the lights and that is it. Is there any way of testing the 3-wire sensor with an ohm meter?? I have always maintained a loyalty to Detroit living in Michigan. That being said, I wish I would have stuck to my Ford roots. Probably won't make me very popular here! Thanks

Sucks that you are having problems...all cars do. Have you had a chance to read any codes stored? Get an OBDII reader and check for stored codes -- best place to start. When certain codes are stored they can prevent the remote engine start to work.

If you have codes stored post them so we can look at what coud be your problems -- just remember, trying to diagnose a car through a computer over the internet is difficult!

by codes I mean Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) -- if you have a DTC that starts with a "U" (U0100 to U2199) you have a computer problem. Since you said your DIC freezes look for a U2116 (lost communication with Instrument Panel Cluster). Engine start problems could be a U2125.
