I have a 2009 Cobalt LS with 148k miles. I've been having problems with additional exhaust noise coming from the passenger side only when pressing the accelerator. Took it took the dealer and they found that the front exhaust tube/catalyst pipe has a hairline crack in it. I haven't been able to get under the car to see exactly how bad it is.

My question is about replacement converters I'm finding online. The stock converter and pipe is GM Part No. 22939743. Looks like a single catalyst chamber and then a straight pipe, looks like this

But the cheaper replacements I'm seeing online usually have what looks like 2 catalytic areas like this

as opposed to 1 converter chamber and than a straight pipe.

Will those cheaper options fit? Is that second chamber a second catalyst? Have any of you installed the different configuration?

Thanks!
