Please Help!! My friend has a 2007 Chevy Cobalt which recently broke down. She asked if I could help her replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor, so i gladly said yes! Upon taking out the new one it looked like something had been hitting it, well I didnt think much of it. I replaced it and the car still didn't fire! Instead I herd a knocking sound. I decided to pull the new sensor out and what do you know.. it to had now been hit and broken! I've been trying to research this problem but can't seem to find much on it. The only thing I can come up with is the reluctor wheel on the crankshaft has something lodged in one of the teeth, lost a bolt, or is broken? I have not yet drained the oil in search of any clues, and I cant get my head in the space to try to peek in the sensor slot. I really don't know what to do next, any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

You will need to take the Oil pan off to inspect. I think it's time to visit a shop.
