Need Help! My 2006 chevy cobalt ls is having electronic problems.

the Dashboard is intermittently turning off, all gauges are dropping to 0 and then returning to current levels. backlight stays on but needles drop. While doing this the Parking brake indicator also pops up randomly. The radio has been off for awhile but then came back on to only be unresponsive and display the wrong time.

could this be a loose ground wire?

factory deck of aftermarket?
have you changed the speakers?
using an aftermarket amp?

those are all on the same fuse so it sounds like something is drawing too much power on that line or a loose connection.

If you need some information on the fuse block, there is a good section on them in the manual starting on p. 5-96 (includes a diagram). I realize that many owners are very savvy with things like this, but just wanted to contribute in whatever way I can!

Yea i had the same problem because i had a aftermarket system hooked to my stock radio. Bought a diff radio and bam problem fixed.

Oh Sarah about fuses, If my lights on my shifter dont turn on anymore what do I need to check (Park, Drive, Reverse etc...) Also, I don't know if this is a constant problem but why does the Trunk Button in the Small Cubbie not work to release my trunk. Really annoying

I only have stock everything, a loose fuse could cause this? wouldn't it just pop?

have you checked to see if its plugged in? the plug might have gotten pulled out.

also, if you get a test light and go over each of your fuses, you will find the blown one (if its blown). test lights are cheap and very handy, you can pick one up for $10-20

Yea it is plugged in. I just figured the button went bad or something.

Then Your cluster might be going bad. I've come to find out that it is your stock radio most likely. This problem has occured with a lot of balt owners and replacing your stock unit always did the trick.

Twistedbalt,
I looked at some of your older posts and it looks like your Cobalt is a 2006? (Nice job on the blue seats, by the way! Looks great!). I am not 100% certain, but maybe the instrument cluster fuses - #7 and #16 of the floor console fuse block (The floor console fuse block is located on the passenger’s side of the floor console under the instrument panel. To access the fuse block, remove the panel on the side of the console).
Again, it's just a try. If this doesn't work out, I'm happy to ask our Technical Assistance Center, but would need to get them the last 8 of your VIN.
Best,
Sarah

There is only one bulb for all these and you can access it from the cup holder hole if your hand is small enough.
