Why not run different contests? Things other than COTM. Cobaltuniverse also does photograph of the month contests once a month and Referral of the month contests. Also maybe do a contest oonce every 3 months to win a pair of decals or a year of premium membership? Also I brought the idea up before but do COTm contests with specific themes on occasion. Make the themed ones a once a year kinda deal. Like this month you can do sedan of the year, then next month it can be coupe of the year. SS/TC of the year. etc etc. Keep them separate from the normal COTM as well. I think things like that might bring a lot more interest to the site....

I understand that, but as much as I enjoy CU and as much as i log onto fail.net, YC will always be my home. We have a LOT of newbies on here and I'm just trying to come up with ways that will get all of them interested in, and more active on this site. Despite it's new ownership YC is still a good forum, we just need to make it a community again..

The random threads aren't gonna get this place going either :( we gotta find a way to get the newbs to start showing interest! I hate coming across posts from a user that still has the 'newcomer' moniker and only has like 5 posts to his name but he's been a member since august 2010 or some shit like that. We gotta just start doing things differently until we find something that works...New contests. More off topic discussion. Maybe make something so when someone signs up for the first time it can have a list of places to start out. A link to the contests, to the introduction area, to the random chat, to the section where everyone posts pics of themselves. Put all of those little 'community' things right there when they first sign up and it might get them more interested! And all the old school guys who are still around keep bumping those threads. Post new pics every so often in the picture threads. say hello to all the newbs when they come in, get crazy in the off topic sections!

Getting some meets together would make the forum come alive I believe.

true, but having ONE person..from HAWAII.. be enthused about this stuff, is probably not going to get other people to start meets. besides, the meets would probably reference people more towards CU than here, just because that is such a more active site.

I understand that, but I'm just brainstornming here. A lot of these newbies don't know about CU yet either, so, like wills said over there a few times, if we can increase the activity on this forum it will naturally increase activity over there. This is a known fact. The concern is getting people involved...if you gutys are talking about a meet on CU post about it here too. Let all these newbs in on the action and I think it would be to everyones benifit on both sides.
