Hey new to the forum here. I have an 2007 Cobalt lt. Just recently the driver side door speaker stoped working, as well as the driver side control lights on a the mirror adjustment and selector buttons. I was just wondering if anyone has any ideals if these cars are known for electrical issues. I have taken off the door panel and the connections to both seem fine, as in no rust or frayed wires. Thanks in advance.

The door speakers going out is somewhat common, but that goes for most cars these days. The door is considered a "wet" joint by design, and the speaker cone is made of paper, and eventually the moisture will cause it to stop working. However, I can't say I've heard of the light going out on the door switches. Did they go out at the same time, or is it a coincidence?

I noticed the lights on the switch flickering and thought maybe it was just a lose cable, because the switch controls still functions just fine still. So I will probably leave it alone until it actually stops working. Then about a month or so later the speaker stared cutting out. Eventually leading to the speaker just not working. Maybe its time to try new speakers. Thanks.

Being that the switches aren't necessarily in the wet section of the door, the connection just might be loose. It's not too tough to pop out. There's a screw under that cover in the pull cup. Then the whole bezel just pulls up and out of the door insert/armrest.

Yup - new speakers, even on the stock radio, will make for a great improvement over the stockers. Being 6.5s, you can get a decent speaker (certainly much better than stock) for not a whole lot.
@Coby7 might have an idea why the light is flickering, if it's not the connection.

Bulb filament burnt out. The switch has a small 3mm rice type bulb and after 10 years of door shutting with a hot filament it eventually breaks. I've replaced these with LEDs for a member on here. Or you just replace the whole switch.

Kickers?

Kicker is the brand. They used to only make subs, but they've been making speakers for a while now too.

Pretty decent speakers from what I've seen, and affordable. They always made a solid sub, and some crazy comp subs. My dad had a pair of 6" kickers directly behind the seats (between the seat and the cage) in his '98 E-150 work van. I've yet to see a work van (or many cars, for that matter) who sound better. I have those subs in the basement - haven't decided what to do with them yet.

I had some kicker speakers in my old car they sound decent. I have a 10in kicker comp sub. In the cobalt now. Thinking about ungrading my deck. Tempted to buy one off of that geek app. But hesitant. Anyone have recommendations on that.

The stock head unit is honestly pretty decent, but if you have a sub in the car, it'll certainly be better sound and control off an aftermarket deck with RCAs.

I'm not sure what "Geek App" you're talking about?

I'll look into RCA. Check it out its on android and Apple App Store. It's really low priced gadgets and electronics. Free to download. Only downside is that sometimes the stuff come from over seas bus taking awhile.
