Engine Swap on a 2007 Cobalt LS

Hi I'm new and I just recently purchased a 07 Cobalt I was in a financial bind and bought it for 600 with what I was told was lifter tick I did a complete oil change new valve cover gaskets lifters and rockers seemed in working order put it back together drove it still ticking thinking exhaust related then it made a loud band car dies now theirs a hole in the block what engines are swappable for this or is it scrap 😫?
