Depends on the size of the dent. Can you post a picture?

For smaller dents we used to use a deadblow. Larger dents we used a piece of wood that would pop the middle back and deadblow the rest. I'm sure there are lot of ways to do it but thats what I have always done. Just take your time.

If you want to get a pic just shine a shop light at an angle from above, it should shadow and show the dent better.

Door dents are tricky. There's usually a bar that goes across the inside of the door. If that's bent your door is considered bad and needs to be replaced. If you wanna do it right you have to disassemble the door and take some body hammers to the inside. Or you can use a slide hammer but you'd have to weld the hole it makes. Or you can grind down the paint, use a pin welder and weld pins to it and get a pin slide and pull the dent.... once you fix the dent it may still pop in and out bc the metal has been changed. You need a shrinking hammer and a dolly and hit around the outside of the dent for it to stop going in and out.... or if you don't wanna do all that work go down to the auto parts store and get one of those dent kits that "fixes anything". I've never used it so I don't know if it'll work and I think it glues to your car so you'd have to remove the glue after.

Can't you let your insurance deal with it? Same thing happened when someone backed into my Dad's Impala. The insurance covered the damage and they fixed the dent. Can't even tell it had been damaged.

You should talk to your insurance company anyway and let them know what happened. You never know. They might be able to help you.

If you have comprehensive coverage, you should be covered regardless of who did it. However, depending on your deductible it's probably more expensive to file a claim :(

I wouldn't mention it to the insurance company though. They may flag your file. As long as you don't mention it you might get a free repair if something else happens to the door.
