07 Cobalt, the auto headlights won't shut off at all, tried the off switch, the display says auto lights off but they stay on. Disconnected the positive at the battery, waited 5 or so min , reconnected and started the car waited about 5 min tried again to get them off but they stay on.
The headlights did this before and I could always turn on the ignition and use the manual shut off. What's up ?
Edit; I pulled the two low beam fuses from under hood fuse box, lows are out. This is just a workaround only temporary so we can use the car, the high beams work if I need them . This is just crazy, give me an old on/off switch...........

I would suggest a multi-function stalk. Turn signal headlight switch. They do go bad and not expensive about $25. Someone else may chime in to see if you can test without changing the switch

Problem Solved. Found a old, very long thread by Coby. Lots of diagrams and discussion. Cut to the chase, I disconnected the battery, went to the BCM inside passenger side and pulled the C1 connector and then reset the connector tight and set the locking lever. Did the same for the C2 connector.
Connected the battery, replaced the 10a fuses under the hood and started the car. The headlights are working as they should, manual off works, auto off works, all is well. C1 &C2 are the large connectors. This is one of those drive you crazy issues. C1 highlighted. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FIRST
