OK guys, I decided to buy myself a nice phone finally. I want either the s5 or the HTC one m8. I'm gonna weigh the goods.. and bads of each phone based on my needs and preferences.

Screens(important)

The screen on the s5 to me is definitely better. Blacker blacks and more vibrant colors.. also a tad larger... but the m8 also has one of the best screens I've seen. 2nd best behind the s5.. in my opinion.

Speakers(important)

The m8 speakers completely destroy any mobile speakers I've heard. Great quality, super loud, and you front facing.. so you can actually hear when watching a video. The s5 speaker is below average in my opinion. I listen to music in my car more often than anything, BUT when I'm lifting in my basement or playing Xbox I listen through the phone speaker.

Speed(important)

The speed of each phone is almost the same. They have almost exactly the same specs.. but the s5 is faster in benchmarks.. BUT the s5 touchwiz or whatever they call it seems a bit laggy at times. Over all the are about the same speed.

Camera(semi important)

Hands down the s5. The 16mp camera is just amazing. The m8 takes good pictures, but the colors and details are lacking compared to the s5.

Build quality(kind of important)

I will be buying a case, so this isn't a huge factor. But the m8 exterior is obviously nicer and feels more sturdy. Although the s5 is plastic it still has a nice feel. The m8 feels kind of cold and slippery but the s5 back feels kind of cheap. Also you can remove the back of the s5, which may come in handy if somehow the battery just loses life.

Sensitivity (important)

Both feel great from what I've used.

Launcher(not so important)

The s5 feels almost the same as all the other galaxy phones. Not much has changed. They added some small things, but it feels like I'll get bored early. The HTC m8 feels fun to me, I've never had an htc and only used one since the m8.. so it feels kind of new. I like the set up of the m8 a little more.

I may add more here after I look things over more.. but this is my problem. I think "s5, great screen, great camera, oh... crappy speakers. M8 great speakers, good screen, OK camera." So help me choose based on my wants.. I know some like Samsung, some like HTC.. but based on what I've written help ME choose. :) leave feedback and your reasons behind which one you would prefer. Thanks!!

I'm not a mobile phone connoisseur, but she's definitely in the know.

Lol never say that about girls and electronics. To girls an iPhone is practically a fashion statement. I have the HTC One non M8 and love it, so that gets my vote.

if the phone speaker is really important to you the only way to go would be the htc...... i would still get the galaxy over the htc myself though, possibly because ive only ever had bad experiences with htc personally... nothing but good with all the galaxy phones ive had... That, and the speaker isn't really that important to me.... 99% of the time if i want to listen to something with it then its plugged in to some speakers:)

I don't like apple or the iPhone. If you like it, fine. But I look at it as the "dumb" smart phone. I like customization.. abd android simply has that over iOS. And that was another factor.. reliability. I've heard some negative things about HTC.. and the s5 is practically water proof. Just another thing to think about. Right now the m8 is outweighing the s5. I'm a big galaxy fan.. but looking for something different. We'll see. Maybe I'll discover something I like about one more

I see the iPhone as a old person phone now. See grandparents with it quite often.

When I had Android, I found I spent hours and hours customizing and tinkering with my phone. Messing with rooting, launchers, widgets, clocking, etc...Then I realized, I dont need all that shizz. iPhone may seem like a "dumb" smartphone but what I like about it is it just works. It's easy to use, reliable, secure, always up to date and isn't obscenely large. It works seamlessly with my MacBook, iPad, AppleTV, and Airport for screen sharing, Airdrop, syncing, etc.... Will I always stick with iPhone? No, but I have no complaints at the moment. I had an HTC phone while I was on android. My biggest complaint with the brand is the Sense launcher/skin. Maybe it's vastly improved since Ive last used it but I would have preferred stock Android. Cyanogen was a good way to get close to the purist experience but then again, there was more time and tinkering. Also, battery life was pretty bad too. Although, I see thats not really an issue with Android anymore. The Nexus line of phones aren't bad, The galaxy line is pretty good too.
