I like to sit and my car and listen to music. I have all stock components except for a 12 inch subwoofer and a 400w amp connected to it. My questions are:

How long can i listen to music before the battery dies and i cannot start my car? Is it bad to do this?

If i let my car idle, will the battery charge or just provide enough power to keep all the components running?

I really dont like to let my car idle for too long because of using up gas....

It might not be the best idea to let your battery drain all the way, because after a while and lots of jump starts the battery will need to be replaced. If you hook up a toggle switch to your subs, so that when you are just sitting listening to music and not driving you are able to listen to music longer, because your subs will be off.

that is correct, its also not even good for a battery to be charged all the way. for optimum battery life they should stay in between 30% - 80% charge

im not 100% on weather or not it will charge the battery, but it should create enough juice to power the accesories in the car, thus keeping the battery in a constant charge

With a healthy battery and charging system,,, it should continue to charge between 13-15V. East check would be connect a cheap (or borrow) a voltmeter to the battery or underhood connections under the conditions you operate. This will tell you in a second!!

You will be fine idleing with the 400 W amp and the one 12 inch sub, right now im carring 2 12's and a 1600 W amp with output max at 2100 W....i replaced my stock battery with a cold cranking RV battery which will power any accesories you have or will ever put in your car and with install of the battery it cost about $150 canadian.
