im about 300 dollars shy of a turbo kit and i plan to have the money to buy it within the next few weeks...im not planning on running crazy PSI, but i dont wanna be sitting at 8 with only 200 HP. i know i need to buy some parts so that i can safely run a good amount, but does anyone have suggestions as to what i should upgrade so that my engine wont blow?

tune, maybe sum internals but i doubt your engines gonna blow

A bad tune will increase the chance of your motor blowing... I would invest in a very good tuning solution

supposedly the internals in the 2.2 are only rated to 250 hp so your gonna need a rebuild if you want more

Ive owned a boosted 2.2 with the garrett turbo kit. I was pushing 249whp 259wtq on 8psi. New clutch/flywheel gained alot of my lost power.

a good tune will prevent any need for internal work, however over 275bhp isnt recommended for any lengthy time period. but from wat it sounds like u should be good to go as it is.
