YouTube - Driving a 2008 Honda Civic SI

I think it's a lot nicer. And I like how it drives better. It may not have as much torque, but I think it's faster. It's also 6spd, and the gear ratios are A LOT better than mine. I can get into 6th easily. My car I have to drive in 4th most of the time or i'll be lugging the car cause it's too slow for 5th. Hell in the middle of the vid I was going UPHILL in 6th while at 2500k!! I couldn't even do that with my car!! I would be lugging at 1k in 5th! This car has top end power, where as mine has low end. This has a 8k redline too. And it's 100% stock! It's definitely a lot faster than my car. The clutch is a HELL of a lot different though. It's the exact OPPOSITE of our cars. The engagement point is at the end of the pedal where as ours are at the top. I stalled twice cause of that because of being so used to it being at the top

Stock for stock, it's faster than my 2.4L. Bolt-ons would prob do a lot more, than bolt-ons on my 2.4. It just lacks torque that's all. It's probably also lighter and deff more aerodynamic. Less compression, and could prob SC it or turbo it better. Meh I wish I had done more research when buying a car....:notrust: But I didn't know ANYTHING about cars then. I just went for looks. AAAAnd it's prob a hell of a lot cheaper to mod too...

You might want to learn more about the SI before making these posts...the SI's 2.0 engine makes the power it does because of 12:1 compression. It is also quick because they have high series gearing...4.77:1.

Also the way a car sounds CAN give you the impression that it is quicker...in other words go to the race track and run your buddy wth your car and see if it is actually quicker...then let us know.

oh. but i wasn't talking about the sound of the car lol the butt dyno says it feels faster after 5k than my balt does. I assumed less compression cause it's a 2.0 but I guess you learn something new everyday.

EDIT: you were slightly off: Compression Ratio 11.0:1 http://automobiles.honda.com/civic-si-sedan/specifications.aspx

Hmm yeah deff faster if I got a 16 at the 1/4 mile... http://www.dragtimes.com/Honda-Civic-Timeslip-14880.html

it feels faster at 5k cause VTEK kicks in around there... You should have got a ss/sc or t.c if you feel you dont have enough power. If i put my s/c stock for stock against an SI the only thing the SI will get is the interior refinment. whoop de doo.

Actually from watching youtube vids, I see vtek kicks in at 6k not 5. And WOW its like a power boost! But how come our VVT don't do that??? Isn't it pretty much the same thing? Also when I bought my car, they told me they didn't make the SS/SC anymore, and I had no idea bout the turbalt. They didn't mention it. They just said this is what their making now. :notrust: And of course an SS/SC is going to beat a SI... This is NA wars here... not SC

ok as a honda guy, the si stock to stock IS faster than the 2.4, should take a sc and close to the turbo. modified, it IS faster. the k20 in the si puts out 197 but with basic bolt ons and a low boost turbo, the push in the high 300s(like 380 usually) whp all day long. plenty of power to take any ss. now I'm not saying i dont love the ss, im just saying people don't give the si the credit it's due. as far as the vtec(it's actually I-Vtec in the si not vtec) it is a much more advanced system. however, a tuned turbo cobalt and a turbo si... that would be a sweet race

why compare apples to oranges?

Si's are hardly much faster than a 2.4L balt and no competition for the ss/sc and total domination by an ss/tc.

Si's are ****in ugly and youre goin to get looped in with the ricers

Si's suck and every owner says, ''well sc the si and it will beat the ss/sc." In fact, it still cannot keep up with a pullied cobalt. Put a turbo on your pos Si and lets see it keep up with a tuned ss/tc. haha ya right, not gonna happen

Si's are lagging a necessity called TORQUE. Maybe you may have heard of it. Torque should be made throughout the entire power band, not just from 6k-7k rpm.

Too ****in expensive for the price. With that money yuou could buy a FAST car and still mod it. Buying an si would prolly be the worst idea ever. As soon as you get it youll drive an evo and want one. Or youre going to want an srt4 or a suby. Might as well skip the POS HONDUHHHHHH and just get an evo or something fast.

id like to see this 380whp si you talk about. Then, i would like to see it put the power to the ground. Then I would like to see it walk a TVS LSJ with less power. Then i would like to see you tell me how ****in great hondas are.

Well, if you going to get the Si at least get the sedan version cause the coupes look fugly in the back, and the sedan just looks way sportier IMO.
