Well everyone I appreciate all the help everyone gave me when I was modding my cobalt but unfortunately 2 weeks ago monday I was driving on a newly paved, slick, back road and lost control around a corner (while driving the speed limit) skidded off the road and hit a ditch, then a sign then a bush and finally stopped.
After checking out the damage the suspension is ripped up, radiator mounts are broke, most of the cables, fuel lines and brake lines are trashed from the sign and it's considered a total loss.
I walked away from it though and the sheriff was nice enough to bring me home.
I'll have pics soon. but thanks again to everyone who offered advice for mods and what not.

Glad you are okay... Was it state or county road?
All Roads are Required to have a "Friction Coat" Top layer, Find out if that section of road had a friction coat, if not, take pics of your car, and the location of the accident and the road, and call a lawyer, you will be a very rich man. I knew a guy (don't know anymore cause he got rich off of it) who lost control on his bike and was in the hospital for a month, The road he was on was one of the twisties that was under construction, and they left it without a top friction coat and a month later he lost control on a damp road. While in the hospital, his brother took pics of the road, and pieces of bike scattered everywhere and took it to a lawyer. Needless to say, the county also had to pay not just the construction company.

thanks again everyone for the condolences lol.
Well after 3 stressful weeks of not knowing whats going on or whether or not I have gap coverage and the answers are, Yes I have gap, Yes I got another car and finally no it is not a balt....
Because of my line of work (union electrician) it was starting to get impractical to have a car as my daily driver especially when my boss says "here take these extra loops of bare copper wire" (its 3 dollars a pound here) that and I need more room so I settled on a GMC envoy mainly because I liked the way my jeeps used to drive and handle the winter very well and I have to buy american (union thing).
I checked the road and much to my dismay the construction company did infact put a friction coat on the surface. I also had a chat with the guy at the garage and he said his shop has personally pulled about 7-8 other cars out of that particular area because of the turn which is almost a 90 degree turn. basically he told me you cant have cars going 55 slow to 25 to make that turn in anything other than pristine driving conditions so I shouldnt worry too much.
The insurance company says it's my fault, and long story short; I told them to shove it and if they counted against me that I'd switch carriers so it counts as a no fault currently.
The upgrades I put in werent recoverable since the adjuster left my headlights apart and rain destroyed the ballasts. however I did pull off the trunk badge as a keepsake from my first car I bought and I figure I can use it as a teaching instrument somewhere down the line if I have a kid or something.
